2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator Engine
The new 2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator will be offered with two engine options. The first is a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 gasoline engine. This engine develops up to 400 hp and 415 lb-ft of torque. Additionally, Lincoln has introduced a new ten-speed automatic transmission. Although the rear-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is available as an option.
The second option is a hybrid powertrain. The Aviator Grand Touring variant is equipped with a hybrid powertrain capable of a 21-mile all-electric range. In this combination, a normal twin-turbo V6 engine is coupled with an electric motor to produce 500 hp. Naturally, this model provides drastically greater fuel efficiency.
Braking and handling are less exemplary. The brake pedal is overly soft, making smooth control difficult. The Aviator also feels big and wallowy when you’re driving around turns and doesn’t give you much confidence in its stability. Another problem is the transmission’s clunky and slow transition between forward and reverse. All of these issues combine to make driving the Aviator less pleasing than we expected.
2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator Redesign
All versions are available with distinctive color schemes (including the base model shown below right in Sandstone), but the Black Label trim level stands out the most with its three available “themes” of “Chalet,” “Flight” and “Destination” (below left) that get special colors and trim types. The quality of some plastics and the fit-and-finish aren’t up to Mercedes or BMW levels, but everything looks so special that it covers whatever deficit exists. Most competitors just seem drab and generic by comparison.
The 2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator will look even better and more stylish. 19-inch wheels will remain standard, while 22-inch alloy wheels are only available in the Monochromatic Reserve Package. Generally, we hope to see new exterior paints and a couple of nice mid-cycle visual refreshments.
Inside the cabin, Aviator is a premium SUV with so much to offer. A 10.1-inch touchscreen is now standard in the base trim level, along with the tri-zone climate control. Aviator offers a room for seven passengers and the level of comfort is admirable. Still, we don’t know if Aviator will receive any sort of cabin update.
In terms of technology, every 2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator comes standard with a 10-inch touchscreen mounted so high on the dash and close to the driver that it actually looks larger. It runs the Lincoln-skinned version of Ford’s Sync 3 interface, which is generally user friendly, though it doesn’t look as cool and sophisticated as the all-digital gauge cluster (or the interfaces of rivals) – minimalism is the theme here.
Also standard is 4G in-car WiFi, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio and two USB ports. The Reserve trim adds a 14-speaker Revel sound system, integrated navigation and wireless charging, plus a head-up display, a 360-degree parking camera, and the capability to use your phone as the car’s key. The Black Label adds rear USB ports and a 28-speaker Revel Ultima audio system.
2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator Price
The 2023 Ford Lincoln Aviator starts at $53,340 for the Standard trim with rear-wheel drive. This price is about average for a three-row luxury midsize SUV. Midtier models start from $58,505 to $69,190, and the top-trim Black Label and Black Label Grand Touring models are priced from $80,725 and $89,280 respectively.
