2023 Ford Explorer Fuel Economy, Technology, Interior, Price And Release Date – The 2022 model of the Ford Explorer hasn’t even been released yet, but what are rumored to be leaked photos of the 2023 Explorer have found their way online and have people talking.
The newest generation of the Explorer has only just found its way back into the hearts of the public after the 2020 model brought back a fan favorite, the rear-wheel-drive platform.
The 2022 model is expected to keep the more rugged, traditional SUV look while still retaining some sleekness with its body lines and comfortable interior. With these leaked photos, however, people currently have their focus on the 2023 model year.
The only new feature the spy photos seem to reveal is a refresh in outward design. The SUV appears to have slightly reshaped head and taillights, restyled vents that are on each side of the front bumper, a new wheel design, and, most eye-catching, a redesigned grille pattern.
There is no confirmation that these changes will stay or that they will even appear on American models. As the photos supposedly came from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

Fuel Economy And Technology
The turbocharged 2.3 litter four-cylinder engine has slightly higher EPA fuel economy estimates than its closest competitors. Rear-wheel-drive versions get 24 mpg combined and all-wheel-drive versions get 23 mpg combined. Up to you to compare it, This is usually 1 or 2 mpg better.
But we couldn’t match those numbers in practice, probably because this turbocharged engine felt too eager. Our test average was 21.1 mpg and our drive included a long stretch of highway.
The sixth-generation Explorer comes with an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system as standard and a 12.3-inch premium; a larger screen could become standard by 2023 with Ford likely to add the 15.5-inch screen that debuted on the Mustang Mach-E.
Either way, Apple CarPlay Android Auto Wi-Fi hotspot capability and Bluetooth streaming will come standard.

Interior
Things look good. The front seats are spacious, and the driving position is adjustable. It is usually easy to see due to the ample glass area and large mirrors.
But middle- and rear-seat passengers aren’t well looked after. Knee and legroom in the middle row isn’t up to the standards set by the rest of the class, and the third row is unlikely to impress above-average adults.
Rear door access can be awkward if the door cannot be opened through the rear door First brake because the space between the door map pocket and the protruding rear wheel arches is tight.
The interior of the new Explorer features an updated design with a more modern look and feel. The centre stack has been reconfigured to put the infotainment screen front and centre, while additional screens have been added for rear passengers.

According to fleet production data, Ford will start production on the 2023 Explorer in November, though orders can be taken as early as August. Reportedly, there is also an all-electric version of the Ford Explorer coming out, but we won’t see that until 2023.
This makes it another highly anticipated electric release after the Mustang Mach-E, which is currently delayed in delivery, and the F-150 Lightning, rumored to start production in 2022.
Pricing for the 2023 Ford Explorer hasn’t been made available yet. The current base model has an MSRP of $34,170. So, what we can do is just waiting for it. We hope it will be clear soon.
